I stopped drawing and painting right before the point where you have to decide if you’re going to do it in university but have recently been playing around with graphics and design for my personal album artwork.
One thing I’ve noticed is that flipping an image in its vertical axis can have dramatic effects on the piece. I noticed you did that in this piece and it makes a huge difference to the composition and makes the figure seem more emphatic in his gesture.
How do you know when to flip stuff like this? Do you just experiment? Was it done to better match the spiral of stuff? Are there any left-to-right-to-left tips or rules you use when laying out a new piece?
