Every work of art is a gem that I love to look at. The big ones on the wall, and the small ones in the books (I have them all). Gathering more is always good. Thanks for the hard work to do the project.
To Michael: Back in 1982, Sherry Gottlieb pulled you out to LA to do a signing, and also to do a chat at one of the onstage lecture halls at UCLA. There was this student who talked to you, and a few weeks later he bought four sketches from you, which you sent by regular mail. You said that it was the first time that you ever sold sketches. I still have two of them. The pen sketch for Sailor on the Seas of Fate, and the pencil of Swords and Ice Magic. (Blue Fear and City ended up on the other side of a divorce.) The details above should authenticate me. If you like the idea of putting them up for sale on your site when you re-release Wonderworks, contact me. RPAYATT@COX.NET. Let's talk.
This is very exciting! I have all the print versions of the books. Electronic versions would be awesome and very much welcome. Thank you for doing this!
Ah, but you are not updating an old classic, you are creating a new one! Fantastic! I envy your task as a fan, and wish you luck as an editor. Daunting, yet a dream come true.
Love this! I may have to find a copy of WONDERWORKS in the meantime. Just pulled a used copy of WORKS OF WONDER I picked up somewhere along the line. His artwork definitely influenced which books I tended to purchase throughout the 80s.
The print editions really aren't difficult to find. My 2nd edition paperback of Wonderworks was falling apart so I ended up finding one of the LE hardbacks with slipcase.
I remember picking up Works of Wonder back in the day, and being blown away. Not just by the beauty of the art (naturally!), but by the depth of thought that Michael had put into planning each piece. I will definitely be gobbling up these new digital remasters as they become available!
In my opinion, the artist commentary is crucial, which is why I'm taking time to put together text for each painting. There are so many cool stories behind the paintings and I'm determined to coax a few more out of Michael.
Oh yes! I'd buy this in the updated digital form. Are you planning on Kickstarting it?
My 1st art book ever. It cost £8 at WH Snith. I took it back to NYC and entered art school, with adults, a year or so later. What an inspiring work.

Sadly, Michael E., there isn't a spot to upload the images. Have the boss get in touch with me.

Wow, those are two exceptional covers to have sketches from! Would love to see them.
I passed your note along to Michael to make sure he sees it.
I am excited at updated versions as well as a new collection. Can't come soon enough!
"What do you think? Does this look like a worthwhile update for an old classic?"
This is great news! I may have to get an updated version!
very excited by this news! S much of his work is being forgotten and I'm looking forward to the new re-issues!
I can't wait.
