The Barsoom covers were my introduction to Michael Whelan, when for Christmas when I was 12 years old, my Dad and Uncle got me the whole set of books. It ignited a lifelong love for Burroughs, and of course MW. I still have the whole set of books. Truly inspiring artwork, and it captures the feel of the stories so well!

What a great gift! No better relatives than the ones who are readers.

Will any of these covers ever be sold as prints in Michael’s store? I have most of his Stormlight prints framed and hanging around our house. Would love to get a print of The Assassin’s Apprentice that Michael painted as well.

Probably a long shot at this point. It was an unusual situation with rights that would need to be worked out. ASSASSIN'S APPRENTICE is much more likely...I've been pushing for that one for many years, and it is one of Michael's favorite paintings.

I would gladly buy a print of Assassin’s Apprentice (and the next 2 books in the trilogy, if they ever were released as prints). That would be wonderful

Sir, the art is a beauty, and the alt-text shows an incredibly discriptiveness put into them. As I muse about low quality and low effort cover art, scifi and fantasy cover art of this caliber is the standard to which i judge the rest!

These covers brought me in to read and become a fan of Barsoom at least as much as the rollicking and imaginative stories.
