Framed in the eye-shaped opening of a cave, Rand al'Thor stands with one arm shading his eyes as he holds a glass sword horizontally aloft. He wears a red coat with ornate gold trim. His belt is an undulating Chinese dragon. Slung on his left hip are a sword and dagger. Behind him, a moon hangs in partial eclipse. The background of the cover illustration is divided by a stalactite pillar. To the left of it, Moiraine in blue dress and Nynaeve in yellow hurry after Rand as he takes a lunging step further into Shayol Ghul.

One of the best perks of being a paid supporter is receiving previews of originals before the art is listed in our shop.

This week we have an alternate figure study for A MEMORY OF LIGHT. Rand al’Thor wields Callandor to illuminate his way as he enters Shayol Ghul for the final showdown with The Dark One.

This is the first time we’re showing this art anywhere. The newsletter this weekend featured 50 images, but this wasn’t one of them!

If you haven’t read that expansive feature, make sure you check out Into Shayol Ghul: The Making of A Memory of Light. This deep dive into the cover art was truly a labor of love for me as a fan of The Wheel of Time, and I hope you’ll share it with others.

As always, individual links provided below lead directly to the art in our shop but access to the pages won’t be available until release on Wednesday, April 16 at 11am ET.
