A great story, too complex to represent faithfully in a single narrative illustration. Instead I composed a scene with several key elements from the plot (the glowing eyes, torn spacesuit, book, envelope, broken window), in order to focus on the mood of the story and pique the interest of the potential reader.

An all time fav MW work. I only know it as the album cover for “Music From The 21st Century”; an album I listened to for hours, staring at the cover. I found out it is an MW piece because of a friend who was a huge Whelan fan and had a book and it was either in the book or he recognized it as the book cover from the novel.
