THE TOWER CARD

Set against a background of blood red brushstrokes and framed by a striated full moon, the Man in Black presents a tarot card featuring a large rose and winds swirling about a tall crenelated tower. Roman numerals at the top read XIX. Beneath the folds of his hooded robe, his eyes fall in shadow but one eye gleams yellow punctuated with an irregular dot of red. His mouth is turned up in a rictus exposing pointed teeth. The sigil of the Crimson King is pinned to the wide shoulder of his brown robes. His sleeve conceals one hand while the other holding the card looks aged and wicked with long pointed nails. Hanging by a chain from his waist is a pocket watch. — THE TOWER CARD (2011), Mixed Media on Watercolor Paper - 15" x 11"

With a knowing smile, the Man in Black plays the final card.

This was done a few years after completing work on The Little Sisters of Eluria, the updated and expanded edition of The Gunslinger by Stephen King. LSOE was my last work on the series, but as I've said many times, I can never resist the pull of The Tower for long.
