I used myself as a model for this. Audrey took my picture on the driveway with a Polaroid as I posed for the figure.
The shape of the ship on the back cover is a stellated octahedron, a geometric figure that dates back over 500 years. You can look at it as two intersecting tetrahedrons (triangular pyramids) or the 3-dimensional equivalent of a hexagram.
This was a milestone publication for TOR Books as their first hardcover. ACE later published the paperback.
