A man with spiky bleach blonde hair and a punk aesthetic pushes his finger through his eye socket to crowd the adjacent orbital with two brown eyes. Squished together the shapes are distorted and no longer round. Leaning into the poke, his face contorts with the gruesome display. His neck is off-center with the collar of his slick leather jacket, which slides down the round of his shoulder. A thick rubber band twists on his wrist which is also adorned with a braided leather cord, a beaded bracelet and more. — SOMETHING IN MY EYE (1996), Oil on Panel - 22” x 22”

I created this as the cover for a poster book of my favorite horror paintings. For years I promised to follow with a similarly cringe-worthy riff on dental horror but have yet to make good on that threat.

The pages were perforated to tear out of the paperback, but there was also a slipcased hardcover limited edition of 750 and lettered edition of 26.
