This grasping, writhing mass of tentacles began as a simple exploration of a star stone design, but Michael couldn't resist adding the Lovecraftian creature.
The stippled background suggests both snowfall and stars, playing on the Antarctic setting and the astral origin of the Elder Things.

I see this as a lonely tentacled thing reaching for a beautiful star in cold empty space. Its a gorgeous juxtaposition.
