Painted for the most part during cold winter nights in Connecticut. I had no trouble visualizing the bitter chill of a frosty snow covered landscape...I just had to step outside for inspiration.

Hanging from the ceiling by a patchwork of spider webs, a baby curls arms and legs to him as he seeks slumber high out of the reach of predators. A single caged light bulb hangs from the ceiling. — THE LITTLE RED KING SLEEPS, Ink - 9" x 5 ¼"

Stephen King brilliantly described Mordred when he changed into a spider-creature. Parts of his spider-self would begin to manifest when he had trouble controlling his impulses.

A furry spider perches on a rock outcrop extending a leg down to poke at the skeletal remains of a human rib cage. Mordred in spider form is framed by the outline of the full moon intersected by bands of clouds. — ON THE TRAIL OF WHITE DADDY, Ink - 9" x 5 ¼"

I have to confess that scenes of Mordred feasting on victims in The Dark Tower were among the most horrific moments I’d ever read. I devoted several interior illustrations—both full color and black and white—to exploring this truly terrifying character.
