ENLIGHTENMENT
In the Portals paintings, enlightenment is found only when one gets beyond the architecture of established formal belief systems. The wisdom comes from engaging in the effort personally-no one can do it for you.

This one intrigues me. The figure is shown facing into the light. Has she made a journey to get there? Clearly. Has truly gone through a portal and found enlightenment? Not so clear! Michael shows us signs of how chains of the past have been broken. He shows further that the woman has left her past behind via the staff left behind. Has she truly found wisdom? The owl (apparently representing wisdom) flying away suggests the answer may be no.
I also find a pretty high degree of similarity with Augury. Both women appear similar, have red hair, and carry, or carried, very similar staffs.
