
I had a quantity of the pigment left on my palette while working on an H.P. Lovecraft painting. I fished a canvas scrap out of the wastebasket in our print room and sketched this scene with the leftover Payne’s Grey and white.
While it’s been many decades since I worked with Michael Moorcock on the Elric books, the character continues to occupy my thoughts.

Elric is a character that I to keep coming back to as well. Maybe because I read the series when I was young, and memories from younger years have more permanence, or maybe because he was such a flawed hero that the story never gets old.
