On an island of smooth sand surrounded by placid tide waters, a woman in white shawl stands facing the sunset atop an uneven stack of thick 5-pointed concrete stars. The shapes of various sizes are turned in all directions, casting shadows while intersecting chaotically as the tall stack tapers upward. The cluster stands 20 feet tall backed by almost smoky clouds crossing blue sky. The fading light of day bathes the woman as she stands barefooted on a star laid flat that serves as her makeshift platform. A band of peach and yellow lies well below her low on the watery horizon. — DREAMSEEKER (2016), Acrylic - 24” x 18”

The first of a possible series of paintings exploring my disillusionment with the “progress” of society. The stars represent the hope she’s looking for on the horizon.
